  • 3 in 30: Twilight
    February 5-12, 2010 / MadLab
    Back with its 9th edition and the last one at Madlab's current space, it is 3 in 30. This time in the early time slot. Every 2 months (or so or less), MadLab will present 3 original 10-minute plays based on a common theme. In other words, 3 plays in 30 minutes (or so). This month's theme is Twilight, a nod to the book and motion picture and the twilight of MadLab's time. In every cycle a new theme is presented, pitches pitched and selected, plays written, directors and casts selected, and the plays rehearsed and performed. And then the cycle begins again.
  • BalletMet: A Midsummer Night's Dream
    February 5-14, 2010 / Capitol Theatre, Riffe Center
    Frolic in the forest for romance and laughter this Valentine's Day. Adventure abounds in this comedic ballet based on Shakespeare's delightful story. Enjoy the antics of Puck, Bottom, fairies and four young lovers in this magical caper in which love is turned upside down. Mendelssohn's bewitching score will leave you spellbound! Along with this one-act story ballet, see a sensual world premiere from Ma Cong that blends Eastern and Western cultures through organic, grounded movement brimming with emotion, set to the music of Dhafer Youssef.

    February evening programs on the dates listed. Program content varies, depending on sky conditions, but may include a planetarium show, observatory tours, and star gazing with the 32-inch Schottland Telescope.
  • Dance Traditions with Thiosanne
    February 9-13, 2010 / The King Arts Complex
    The King Arts Complex and Thiossane West African Dance Institute will present instruction in West African dance accompanied by drummers. The week long workshop will include warm ups, instruction of basic movement, introduction of dance origins that will provide an opportunity to understand the language of the music as it relates to the movements. This agenda is designed for age appropriate, experienced and novice participants.

    Get an up-close, behind-the-scenes peek at how an opera is produced by attending an Opera Columbus Dress Rehearsal. In addition to seeing the full production, you'll meet the artists, get a backstage tour and get a glimpse into the many components that bring opera to the stage.
  • Victorian Teas at Kelton House: Valentine Tea
    February 10, 2010 / Kelton House Museum & Garden
    Throughout the year, the Kelton House offers Victorian Teas with a tasteful sampling of savories and sweets reminiscent of 19th century ladies' get-togethers. The menu for each Tea is different, but is always accompanied by traditional Earl Gray tea. Each Tea also includes a short educational program that usually reflects either the season or an object from the Kelton House Museum collection.

  • Pecha Kucha Columbus

    Join Pecha Kucha Columbus for a night of performance and presentation at the OSU Urban Arts Space. The festivities will include local musicians The Alwood Sisters, followed by a diverse group of image-based presentations, an OSU Department of Dance performance, and accompanying music by Scott Vayo of BPM Productions. Presenters will follow the international Pecha Kucha format, devised in Tokyo, of showing 20 images and speaking about each image for 20 seconds. Local food vendors, The Hills Market and Sassafras Bakery, will sell refreshments during the event.

    Sonny brought "The Platters" back to the pop charts in the 1960's with such hits as "I love you 1000 times", "With This Ring", and "Washed Ashore" as well as re-recording The Platters major hits like "Only You", "The Great Pretender", "The Magic Touch" (recently heard in the "The Nutty Professor II" starring Eddie Murphy).
